Visiting Scholars and Students The Institute welcomes visiting scholars and students interested in Vico from the United States and abroad, and can be of some limited assistance for brief visits, or serve as liaison for persons wishing coordination with the wider resources of the University. The Institute has been host to visiting scholars and students from other American universities and abroad (Japan, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Estonia, et cetera), varying from breif visits to research stays of up to oneyear. These have included Fulbright Scholars and scholars on sabbatical from other institutions. Internship Opportunities for Graduate Students The Institute welcomes students enrolled in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for internship association in relation to activities of editing, publishing, cataloguing, and bibliographic research. Graduate students at Emory have assisted at international conferences and prepared book reviews, notes, translations, and bibliographic research for publication. Students wishing to gain such experience for future professional work should contact Professor Verene. Discussion Groups The Institute sponsors conferences, listed here.
During occaisional academic years, the Institute has sponsored discussion
groups of graduate students, faculty, and members of the Emory community,
meeting on a regular basis to discuss topics in the humanistic tradition.
For many years the Institute has hosted a monthly Finnegans Wake
reading group (James Joyce based Finnegans Wake on Vico's Scienza
Nuova).
